These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and SitSignal, Inc. (“SitSignal,” “we,” “us,” and “our”). By creating a SitSignal account, accessing or using our platform, or browsing our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
By creating an account, completing a booking, or otherwise interacting with features that require acceptance, you agree to these Terms through an electronic action (such as clicking “Agree,” “Continue,” or similar). You agree that such electronic acceptance constitutes a legally binding agreement equivalent to a handwritten signature.
You further agree that SitSignal may retain electronic records of your acceptance, and that such records are admissible as evidence of your agreement to these Terms.
SitSignal is exclusively a neutral online marketplace and facilitator that connects pet owners (“Clients”) with independent pet care providers (“Sitters”). SitSignal does not provide pet care services, does not employ Sitters, and is not a Sitter. Sitters are independent business owners and independent contractors; they are not employees, agents, joint venturers, or partners of SitSignal.
Sitters retain complete discretion over how they run their independent businesses, including setting their own schedules, determining their own pricing, and choosing their own methods, routines, and tools to provide care. SitSignal does not control, direct, or supervise the manner or means of services performed by Sitters. Furthermore, SitSignal does not recommend, endorse, or guarantee the quality or safety of any specific Sitter. The Client’s decision to hire a Sitter is made entirely at their own risk.
Sitters have no authority to act on behalf of SitSignal and may not bind SitSignal to any agreements, representations, warranties, or obligations. Sitters are not employees, agents, brokers, franchisees, or partners of SitSignal.
SitSignal does not guarantee booking volume, profile visibility, response rates, earnings, or availability of the Service. Search placement, visibility, and booking opportunities may vary based on multiple factors.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. You agree to comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, licensing rules, and regulations. Clients are responsible for ensuring pets are vaccinated and legally compliant. Sitters are responsible for obtaining any required licenses, permits, or business registrations and for complying with local pet care laws.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and to follow these rules:
• No off‑platform payment, contact exchange, or booking circumvention.
• No misrepresentation of identity, services, or affiliation.
• No harassment, discrimination, threats, or unsafe conduct.
• No scraping, automated access, or interference with platform security.
• No posting unlawful, infringing, or misleading content.
SitSignal may remove content, restrict access, or take account action to enforce these rules.
Clients must disclose any indoor cameras located inside the home in the home profile before booking. Clients may not use undisclosed cameras. Sitters receive these disclosures via home profiles, and failure to disclose may result in account action. Clients are strongly recommended to maintain active interior and exterior cameras in all common areas of the home during a booking. SitSignal further recommends that Clients remove or secure all valuable items; SitSignal is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal property.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it current. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us of any unauthorized use.
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understand it.
You may submit text, photos, reviews, and other materials (“Your Content”). You retain ownership of Your Content, but grant SitSignal a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to host, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute it to operate and promote the Service. You represent that you have the rights and permissions to submit Your Content and that it is lawful. We may remove or moderate content at our discretion.
SitSignal respects intellectual property rights. If you believe that content on the platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice including a description of the work, the location of the infringing material, and your contact information. SitSignal may remove or disable access to allegedly infringing content and may terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
SitSignal provides in‑app messaging and notifications. You agree to keep communications on‑platform and not to exchange payment or contact details before a booking is confirmed. SitSignal may require GPS check‑ins for walks, drop‑ins, or visits. We may use platform data (messages, GPS, timestamps) for safety, support, and dispute resolution. We may automatically detect, block, or remove messages that attempt to share contact details or arrange off‑platform payments, and repeated attempts may result in account warnings or removal. If SitSignal reasonably substantiates off‑platform payment circumvention, we may pursue recovery of lost revenue as described in Section 9. Promotional messages are opt‑in/opt‑out in settings; transactional and safety messages may still be sent.
By providing your mobile phone number and opting into SMS communications, you agree to receive transactional and account-related text messages from SitSignal. These may include account notifications, booking updates, sitter/client communication alerts, verification codes, reminders, and customer support messages. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for assistance. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be sold, rented, or shared except as necessary to provide SitSignal services or as required by law.
Bookings are created when both parties agree to the price, dates, and cancellation policy. All payments must be processed through SitSignal’s payment provider (Stripe). Off‑platform payment requests or arrangements are prohibited. SitSignal charges service fees and commissions that are disclosed before confirmation. Standard sitter commission is 12%; Partnered Sitters commission is 9% for approved participants. Clients pay a separate 4.5% platform fee that does not reduce sitter payout. Booking payouts are normally issued within 6 hours of booking completion, and tip payouts are normally issued within 72 hours. In all cases, payouts may take up to 96 hours to allow credit card payments to fully settle, and remain subject to Stripe processing and bank‑transfer times (once a payout is issued, funds typically arrive in the sitter’s bank account within 1–2 business days). SitSignal may hold or adjust payouts to address disputes, fraud, or policy violations as permitted by law.
• Disputes, chargebacks, and evidence: users agree to cooperate with reasonable evidence requests (messages, GPS check‑ins, photos, receipts) and not to initiate bad‑faith chargebacks.
• Right of set‑off: to the extent permitted by law, SitSignal may withhold or set off amounts owed (including fees, refunds, chargeback costs, and losses from off‑platform payment circumvention) from payouts or stored payment methods.
• Recovery of losses: if SitSignal can reasonably substantiate lost revenue due to policy violations or off‑platform payment circumvention, you authorize SitSignal to recover those amounts and related costs where permitted by law, including through deductions, invoicing, or collections.
• Booking Change Requests: Once a booking has been accepted, changes to booking dates, times, services, pets, or pricing require approval through SitSignal unless the platform clearly states otherwise. A booking change request is not effective until approved by the required party or parties and reflected in the booking details. SitSignal may recalculate pricing, fees, credits, refunds, and payouts based on the updated booking details.
• Extensions and Shortened Bookings: Extending a booking may require additional payment before the updated schedule is confirmed. Reducing or shortening a paid booking may be eligible for SitSignal Credit or a refund to the original payment method, subject to the Sitter’s applicable cancellation policy and the Sitter’s response to the change request. The 4.5% client platform fee already paid is non-refundable when a booking is shortened, except where required by law. If a shortening request falls within the Sitter’s cancellation policy window, the Sitter may approve the shortened booking with a reimbursement option, approve the shortened booking without a reimbursement option, or reject the request.
• Rescheduling and Schedule Changes: A request to reschedule or otherwise change a booking is not effective until accepted through SitSignal. If the requested change cannot be accommodated or is rejected, the original booking details and applicable cancellation policy remain in effect.
• Taxes: Sitters are solely responsible for determining, collecting, reporting, and remitting all applicable taxes related to their services, including income, sales, and use taxes. SitSignal may collect tax-related information, including taxpayer identification numbers, and may issue tax forms as required by law. SitSignal may restrict payouts until required tax information is provided.
In the event of a reported incident, SitSignal will cooperate with law enforcement. If you believe a crime or safety violation has occurred, you must first file a police report. Once a report is filed, please provide SitSignal with the police report number and all relevant details so we may assist in the investigation.
SitSignal reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts at any time for reasons including but not limited to safety concerns, fraud risk, identity verification issues, chargebacks, policy violations, or legal compliance requirements.
SitSignal may place holds, reserves, or delays on payouts where reasonably necessary to investigate disputes, prevent fraud, manage risk, or comply with legal obligations.
SitSignal may also restrict booking activity, cancel pending bookings, or preserve account data in connection with Trust & Safety investigations.
These actions may be taken without prior notice where necessary to protect users, animals, property, or the integrity of the platform.
Each Sitter selects a cancellation policy that applies to their bookings. The selected policy is displayed prior to booking confirmation and forms part of the agreement between the Client and Sitter.
The available cancellation policies are as follows:
• Flexible: Clients may cancel for eligible value generally returned as SitSignal Credit, or submit a booking change request, up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Refund exceptions are handled only when SitSignal approves or law requires. Cancellations and shortened booking requests made within 24 hours of the scheduled start time may not be eligible for credit or refund under this policy.
• Moderate: Clients may cancel for eligible value generally returned as SitSignal Credit, or submit a booking change request, at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time. If canceled or shortened within 48 hours of the scheduled start time, the Client may receive 50% eligible value as SitSignal Credit when policy allows, except that cancellations or shortened booking requests made within 24 hours of the scheduled start time may not be eligible for credit or refund under this policy. Refund exceptions are handled only when SitSignal approves or law requires.
• Strict: Clients may cancel for eligible value generally returned as SitSignal Credit, or submit a booking change request, at least 7 days before the scheduled start time. If canceled or shortened within 7 days of the scheduled start time, the Client may receive 50% eligible value as SitSignal Credit when policy allows, except that cancellations or shortened booking requests made within 24 hours of the scheduled start time may not be eligible for credit or refund under this policy. Refund exceptions are handled only when SitSignal approves or law requires.
• Non-Refundable: Client-initiated cancellations after confirmation are not eligible for SitSignal Credit, refund, or reschedule under this policy unless SitSignal approves an exception or law requires otherwise. Clients may still submit a booking change request, but the Sitter may approve the shortened booking without a reimbursement option or reject the request.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled start time are not eligible for SitSignal Credit or refund under the standard policies unless SitSignal approves an exception or law requires otherwise. This protects Sitters from last-minute cancellations that prevent them from rebooking reserved time.
Shortening a Booking Within the Cancellation Window.
If a Client requests to shorten a paid booking within the Sitter’s cancellation policy window, SitSignal may warn the Client before submission that the removed portion of the booking may not be eligible for reimbursement. If the Client submits the request anyway, the Sitter may approve the shortened booking with a reimbursement option, approve the shortened booking without a reimbursement option, or reject the request. If the Sitter approves the shortened booking without a reimbursement option, the booking dates may be updated but no SitSignal Credit or refund will be offered for the removed portion unless SitSignal approves an exception or law requires otherwise.
Refund Method.
When a cancellation or shortened booking is approved and an amount is eligible for reimbursement, the Client may choose how to receive it:
• SitSignal Credit to the Client’s account (available immediately), or
• A refund to the original payment method (generally 5–10 business days)
SitSignal Credits are non-transferable, have no cash value unless required by law, and may only be used for future bookings on SitSignal. SitSignal Credits can be applied at checkout in the SitSignal app or on the web and cannot be used for tips, identity verification, background checks, or other excluded fees. SitSignal reserves the right to set expiration dates or usage conditions for SitSignal Credits where permitted by law.
How You Choose.
After SitSignal approves an eligible cancellation or a Sitter approves a shortened booking with a reimbursement option, we will send a secure, single-use selection link to the email and/or phone number on file. No sign-in is required to use the link. The link lets the Client select either reimbursement method above for the displayed eligible amount. Reimbursements for shortened bookings are not automatically issued when the Sitter approves the request; the Client must use the secure link to make a selection before the reimbursement is processed, except where SitSignal issues a reimbursement directly as described below.
If no selection is made within 48 hours of the link being sent, the eligible amount will automatically be issued as SitSignal Credit. This default protects the Client from losing access to their eligible reimbursement. The selection link is unique to the Client and expires after it is used or after the 48-hour window. SitSignal may issue a reimbursement directly to either method where the Client is unreachable, in cases of suspected fraud or abuse, or as otherwise required by law.
Platform Fee.
The SitSignal client platform fee (currently 4.5%) is non-refundable under all circumstances, except where required by applicable law. This fee helps cover SitSignal’s fixed operating costs, including web hosting, payment processing, app maintenance, and other platform infrastructure expenses.
Sitter Cancellations.
If a Sitter cancels without a valid safety or emergency reason, SitSignal may, at its sole discretion, facilitate a refund consistent with the applicable cancellation policy, issue SitSignal Credit as service recovery, assist the Client in securing a replacement Sitter, or reassign the booking where possible. SitSignal Credit is not redeemable for cash and cannot be used for tips. SitSignal may also take account action.
Disputes.
Disputes and non-cancellation issues are handled under the Platform Resolution Process. Refunds outside of the stated cancellation policies are not guaranteed.
SitSignal Rewards.
SitSignal Rewards is a loyalty program for Clients. Eligible Clients are automatically enrolled. Enrolled Clients earn 1% back in SitSignal Credit on each completed booking, calculated on the booking subtotal only (excluding the 4.5% client platform fee, taxes, and tips).
Rewards are earned only when a booking reaches completed status. Bookings that are canceled or refunded before completion do not earn Rewards, and Rewards already earned are not clawed back if a booking is later refunded.
Rewards are issued as SitSignal Credit and are subject to the SitSignal Credit terms above — including that they are non-transferable, have no cash value unless required by law, may be applied only toward future bookings, and cannot be used for tips, identity verification, background checks, or other excluded fees.
SitSignal Rewards Credit expires 6 months after it is earned, and expired Credit is forfeited except where prohibited by law. SitSignal may modify, suspend, or discontinue the SitSignal Rewards program, change the earn rate or eligibility requirements, or adjust expiration terms at any time, except where prohibited by law.
SitSignal may, but is not obligated to, assist users in reviewing certain booking-related disputes through an internal platform resolution process. This process is intended solely to evaluate reported issues and enforce platform policies. It is not a court proceeding, arbitration forum, insurance program, or reimbursement system.
SitSignal does not provide reimbursements, insurance coverage, or guaranteed financial compensation for any claims, damages, losses, or incidents arising from bookings or user interactions.
Issues that may be reviewed.
• Missed or incomplete services
• Service quality concerns
• Sitter cancellations or no-shows
• Policy violations tied to a booking
• Limited disputes regarding charges processed through the platform
Issues not handled through this process.
• Property damage claims for reimbursement
• Pet injury, illness, or death claims for compensation
• Personal injury claims
• Criminal matters
• Disputes unrelated to a SitSignal booking
• Claims that should be handled by insurers, courts, payment processors, or law enforcement
Users are responsible for pursuing any financial recovery, insurance claims, or legal remedies independently.
How to start a report.
To request a review, users must contact SitSignal promptly and provide:
• A clear written description of the issue
• Supporting evidence as reasonably requested
Evidence may include messages, photos, videos, receipts, veterinary records, GPS check-ins, and timestamps.
Cooperation requirement.
Users must cooperate in good faith. Failure to respond, provide requested information, or submitting false or misleading evidence may result in denial of the review and account action.
Platform evidence and review standards.
SitSignal may consider any relevant information, including:
• Message history and communication logs
• Booking details and timestamps
• GPS and check-in data
• Submitted documentation
• Prior account history and Trust & Safety reports
SitSignal evaluates evidence at its sole discretion.
Interim actions during review.
While a matter is under review, SitSignal may:
• Pause or delay payouts
• Restrict account access or features
• Limit booking activity
• Preserve records for safety, fraud prevention, or compliance
Available outcomes.
As a result of a review, SitSignal may:
• Deny the claim or report
• Enforce platform policies
• Adjust or reverse payouts that have not yet been released
• Issue SitSignal Credits or refunds strictly in accordance with the applicable cancellation policy
• Issue account warnings, restrictions, or deactivation
• Reassign or transfer upcoming bookings
SitSignal is not obligated to take any specific action and may decline to act where evidence is insufficient or the matter falls outside platform scope.
No reimbursement or liability.
SitSignal does not reimburse users for:
• Property damage
• Pet injury, illness, or death
• Lost income or business interruption
• Emotional distress
• Any direct or indirect losses
All such risks are assumed by users as outlined in these Terms.
No waiver of rights.
Participation in this process does not waive SitSignal’s rights under these Terms, including the right to recover losses, deny payouts, or take Trust & Safety action.
Users retain the right to pursue independent legal or insurance remedies, subject to these Terms.
Finality of platform decisions.
SitSignal may, at its sole discretion, reconsider a matter if new evidence becomes available, but is not required to do so. Except where prohibited by law, SitSignal’s decision within this internal process is final for purposes of platform handling.
Clients authorize Sitters and/or SitSignal to seek emergency veterinary care if the Client cannot be reached. Clients remain responsible for all related costs. SitSignal is not an insurer and does not guarantee outcomes. Abandoned pets may be transferred to appropriate care or authorities, and Clients agree to reimburse associated costs.
SitSignal may offer background checks and identity verification (“Verification”) through third‑party providers. For certain accounts (including Sitters and accounts eligible to receive payouts), SitSignal may require Verification via our payments provider, Stripe, including Stripe Identity. If required, you must complete Verification before you can accept bookings, receive payouts, or access certain features.
What this means:
• Who performs Verification: Verification is performed by Stripe and/or other providers, not SitSignal.
• Information collected: You may be asked to provide identifying information and documentation (such as legal name, date of birth, address, government ID, and a selfie/liveness check). Providers may request additional information to satisfy legal, regulatory, fraud, and risk requirements.
• Use and sharing: Verification results and related data may be shared with SitSignal so we can operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and support disputes. Stripe’s processing of your data is governed by Stripe’s terms and privacy policy.
• Fees: SitSignal may charge a Verification fee, which will be clearly disclosed before you complete Verification. Verification fees (if any) are non‑refundable except where required by law.
• Outcomes: Verification is limited and not a guarantee of identity, trustworthiness, or suitability. SitSignal does not endorse or warrant the accuracy or completeness of third‑party reports.
• Failure, delays, or re‑verification: If Verification is incomplete, unsuccessful, or later requires re‑verification (including due to changed information, account risk signals, or legal requirements), SitSignal may pause payouts, restrict features, or suspend account access until Verification is completed.
• Badges: If SitSignal displays an identity‑verified or similar badge, it indicates only that the user completed a Verification step at a point in time. Badges are not endorsements or guarantees, may be removed at any time, and misrepresentation is a material breach.
SitSignal does not provide insurance, bonding, or workers' compensation for Sitters or Clients. Sitters are strongly encouraged to carry their own professional pet sitting and liability insurance. SitSignal is not responsible for, and the Sitter assumes sole and absolute liability for, any damages to a Client's home, theft of personal property, or injury to pets, up to and including death.
Client Acknowledgment of Risk: By booking a Sitter through the platform, the Client explicitly acknowledges that interacting with animals and allowing independent third parties into their home carries inherent risks. The Client explicitly waives, releases, and holds SitSignal harmless from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising from the injury, escape, illness, or death of a pet during a booking, as well as any property damage, loss, or theft.
The Partnered Sitters Program is an application‑based partnership offered at SitSignal’s discretion. Benefits include a 9% sitter commission, featured placement, a Partnered Sitter badge, promotions/bonuses, priority support, and early access to new features.
• Influence‑based (non‑exclusive): 5,000+ followers on a major platform, pet/lifestyle/community content, regular SitSignal promotion, and brand alignment.
• Volume‑based (exclusive): proven high‑volume demand, strong repeat client history, and a commitment to route new bookings through SitSignal.
Status is reviewed periodically and may be revoked if requirements are not met. Sitters may reapply if eligibility changes.
Sitters must maintain an average rating of 3.5 stars or higher. Falling below this threshold may lead to suspension or deactivation. SitSignal may deactivate accounts for violations, safety concerns, fraud risk, repeated cancellations, or conduct that undermines platform integrity.
If SitSignal receives a Trust & Safety report regarding a Sitter, that Sitter's account will be immediately suspended pending an internal investigation. If a suspended Sitter has upcoming bookings within the next 7 days, SitSignal reserves the right to transfer those bookings to another Sitter. To ensure care continuity, bookings will be systematically reassigned as they reach the 48-hour threshold prior to the scheduled start time.
SitSignal is operated by Altitude Vend Co LLC. The Service, including trademarks, logos, and software, is owned by SitSignal, Altitude Vend Co LLC, or their licensors. Except for the limited right to use the Service, no rights are granted. SitSignal may use feedback without compensation.
The Service may rely on third‑party providers (such as Stripe or maps). Your use of third‑party services is subject to their terms. SitSignal is not responsible for third‑party availability or content.
SitSignal is not responsible for delays, interruptions, or failures in the Service resulting from events outside its reasonable control, including but not limited to outages of third-party services, payment processors, communication networks, or verification providers.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” SitSignal disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. SitSignal does not guarantee the quality or suitability of any Sitter or Client.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SitSignal, its affiliates, directors, and employees shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages or losses arising from your use of the Service or interactions between users.
Under no circumstances shall SitSignal be held liable or responsible for the criminal, fraudulent, intentional, or negligent acts of any user (including Sitters and Clients), including but not limited to theft, burglary, assault, destruction of personal property, animal cruelty, or pet neglect.
SitSignal’s total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will in no event exceed the amount of fees paid to SitSignal by you in the twelve (12) months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or $100, whichever is greater, unless prohibited by law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold SitSignal harmless from claims and liabilities arising out of your use of the Service, your content, your interactions with other users, or your violation of these Terms.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act, administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Rules. Arbitration will take place in Sacramento County, California unless the parties agree otherwise. You and SitSignal waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class or representative action. You may opt out within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing legal@sitsignal.com with the subject “Arbitration Opt‑Out” and your account email.
This arbitration agreement does not prevent either party from bringing an individual action in small claims court where permitted by law.
If any portion of this Arbitration & Class Action Waiver section is found to be unenforceable, the remaining portions will remain in full force and effect.
If the class action waiver is found to be unenforceable, the arbitration agreement shall be deemed void to the extent required by law.
Nothing in this section limits either party’s ability to seek injunctive or equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary.
SitSignal may update or modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the platform, by email, or by other reasonable means.
Changes will become effective on the date specified in the updated Terms. In some cases, you may be required to affirmatively accept updated Terms before continuing to use certain features of the Service.
Unless otherwise required by law, disputes will be governed by the version of the Terms in effect at the time the relevant booking was made.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
These Terms are governed by California law. If arbitration does not apply, disputes will be resolved in state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California. These Terms survive termination where applicable.
SitSignal may preserve, use, and disclose information where we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, investigate fraud or safety concerns, or protect the rights, property, or safety of users, animals, or SitSignal.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
SitSignal’s failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
SitSignal may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other corporate transaction.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and SitSignal regarding the Service.
SitSignal schedules bookings using the local time zone of the service location. Times displayed within the app may vary depending on your device’s time zone settings and whether Daylight Saving Time (DST) is in effect.
UTC is the international standard used to track time around the world. Each time zone is measured as an offset from UTC.
| Time Zone | Standard Time | Daylight Time | UTC Offset |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alaska | Alaska Standard Time (AKST) | Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT) | UTC−9 / UTC−8 |
| Pacific | Pacific Standard Time (PST) | Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) | UTC−8 / UTC−7 |
| Mountain | Mountain Standard Time (MST) | Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) | UTC−7 / UTC−6 |
| Arizona (Most Areas) | Mountain Standard Time (MST) | Not Observed | UTC−7 |
| Central | Central Standard Time (CST) | Central Daylight Time (CDT) | UTC−6 / UTC−5 |
| Eastern | Eastern Standard Time (EST) | Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) | UTC−5 / UTC−4 |
| Atlantic Canada | Atlantic Standard Time (AST) | Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT) | UTC−4 / UTC−3 |
| Newfoundland | Newfoundland Standard Time (NST) | Newfoundland Daylight Time (NDT) | UTC−3:30 / UTC−2:30 |
| Hawaii | Hawaii Standard Time (HST) | Not Observed | UTC−10 |
Most regions in the United States and Canada observe Daylight Saving Time. During DST, clocks are moved forward by one hour in the spring and moved back by one hour in the fall.
Generally:
• DST Begins: Second Sunday in March at 2:00 AM local time.
• DST Ends: First Sunday in November at 2:00 AM local time.
Example — Anchorage, Alaska:
• January: 8:00 AM AKST = 5:00 PM UTC
• June: 8:00 AM AKDT = 4:00 PM UTC
Although the local booking time remains 8:00 AM, the corresponding UTC time changes because of DST.
Some regions do not observe Daylight Saving Time, including most of Arizona, Hawaii, and certain U.S. territories. Their UTC offsets remain the same throughout the year.
SitSignal stores booking times using UTC and associates each booking with the service location’s time zone. This ensures that bookings continue to display correctly during Daylight Saving Time changes, when traveling between time zones, and when viewing bookings from different regions.
All booking times shown to clients and sitters are intended to reflect the local time of the booked service location unless otherwise indicated.
