Why cancellation policies matter
Booking care reserves a sitter's availability. If plans change, the policy decides the refund. Policies protect sitters from last-minute cancellations, give clients clear expectations up front, and cut down on disputes.
The four policy options
- Flexible: clients may cancel for a full refund or request a booking change up to 24 hours before service. Later change requests may still be approved, but aren't guaranteed a refund.
- Moderate: 48 hours' notice for a full refund. Within 48 hours, cancellations and shortened-booking requests are generally eligible for 50% if approved — you may approve a shortened booking with or without a refund.
- Strict: 7 days' notice for a full refund. Within 7 days, cancellations and shortened-booking requests are generally eligible for 50% if approved — you may approve a shortened booking with or without a refund.
- Non-refundable: once confirmed, cancellations aren't refundable. Clients may still request a booking change, which you can approve without a refund or reject.
The platform fee
The 4.5% platform fee is non-refundable under all cancellation policies — it covers payment processing and platform operations regardless of a cancellation.
